From Ribera del Duero, this remarkable, earthy estate-bottled 100% Tempranillo is produced from vines that are 30 years old. The vines are tended in limestone and clay soil, and the wine is aged for 15 months in French and American oak barrels. With emphasis on the fruit rather than the tannins, the goal was to make a very reasonably priced Ribera that can age. Restrained oak regimen to respect the wine’s elegance, this wine has abundant notes of vanillin, black currants, blackberries, incense and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, ripe and rich.
